Windy City.

DAY 13, 14, 15:

I came to Chicago by hitchhiking, with a young man of 33 years old, who went to see a friend of him. He was very nice ! He let me of at my hotel, the ACME Hotel Company Chicago, just next to the Michigan Avenue. I settled in my room quickly and I walked in the surroundings before I took the bus and went to the United Center. This is why I wanted to go in the United States. I'm a great fan of basketball and specialy of the NBA, and the most famous player of all time had played in Chicago : Michael Jordan. He is one of my idols, because he's the one who changed this sport in something I love so much and in what it is nowadays. Just in front of the building, there was a bronze of him, I was obligated to go there. It is a sort of pilgrimage for me. After that, I went inside of the building for the game between the Chicago Bulls and the New York Knicks. People were mad, the atmosphere suprised me a lot. There was only 20 thousand places, but I felt like in a stadium of 50 thousand. That was awseome. Bulls won easely 111 to 80. When I rented my ticket for the match four months ago, I nearly made a mistake, because in USA the local team is written in second, so I thought games away were in Chicago. The game was a great show.

The next day, I went to the Millenium Park and I visited all mysteries inside : The Cloud Gate, a huge metallic sculpture, which deforms buildings and people, the Lurie Garden, the Jay Pritzker Pavillion, the Crown Fountains, the Harris Theatre and the BP Pedestrians Bridge. I continued with the Art Institute, the most famous Museum of Chicago. This is where the biggest collection of impressionist painting outside France is kept. I took a picture of the historical sign of the beginning of the Route 66, just next to the museum. After I went to eat in a MacDonald's. The waiter told me that it was where the first MacDonald restaurant opened. My day continued with Grant Park, in keeping with the Millenium Park. I went on the Shedd Aquarium, that was very fun ! Then I went in front of the Alder Planetarium, and came back to my hotel by bus.

I was tired for my last day in Chicago, so I decided to visit only in the morning and spent a calm and relaxing afternoon, with the sun. I began the day by going to the Loop, which I crossed to go to the Willis Tower, the highest building of Chicago. I went on the top of it and enjoyed the nice view of the city, the Lake Michigan and the plains of Illinois. I was really tired, so I took the bus to leave the center of Chicago and went in the North of Chicago. I lunched near to the Wrigley Field, a massive and famous baseball field. I don't know baseball rules, but I saw people playing, so I'm interested, if I can, I will go to a baseball match later during my trip. Afterwards, I walked to Montrose Beach, on the shores of the Lake Michigan. I enjoyed that stroll very much. I finally took an other bus to the Magnificent Mile, a commercial avenue of Chicago, not very far of my hotel. I didn't buy anything, I just took a look. I ate in the hotel restaurant, and had a good sleep. That's how my days in Chicago finished.

I have to hire a car to go Los Angeles, because I have a long road to do, and I can't do it by hitchhiking.
